Media and information literacy as expression of freedom of speech:

Freedom of expression and media and information literacy are intrinsically linked. Media and information literacy (MIL) equips people with the knowledge and skills to understand how information is produced and distributed. It also informs people about what laws are needed to support a free and independent media. Information literacy is a building block for lifelong learning, it encourages and informs problem solving and critical thinking. They can locate, use and evaluate information to inform their decision making.

In many cases it will be avarice – looking for gain; in others, fear of loss. Turn the conversation to justification, evidence and logic. Unfortunately, so many ‘facts’ are put forth nowadays, from unknown or dubious sources, that this can become a flurry of anecdotes, many of them fantasy. Conspiracy theorists, for example, collect snowstorms of fantasy ‘facts’ that they fling in the faces of reasonable people. So suspect the unlikely. Media and Information Literacy is as expression of freedom of speech/expression that we should first understand and communicate with one another because the lack of understanding and communication will lead to an individual development in judging about the media content that people posted online. We have the right to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of your choice without interference and regardless of frontiers. This means: You have the freedom to express yourself online and to access information and the opinions and expressions of others. Not all people share the same opinion of another person, thus some users in media and information tend to criticize or bash other people. Media and Information Literacy as freedom of speech/ expression Every person has a right to voice out his/her opinion on the happenings or estate around him/her.

Media literacy enables the populace to understand and contribute to public discourse, and, eventually, make sound decisions when electing their leaders. People who are media literate can adopt a critical stance when decoding media messages, no matter their views regarding a position. We have the freedom to express ourself online and access information, the opinions and expressions we made must be decided to avoid conflict to others.

In conclusion, I’ll can contribute to my country by spreading trusted links and empowers people to learn for themselves so that they can make more informed decisions. It helps them recognize biases, understand context, and evaluate information so they can effectively use and communicate it, share the laws and make other people be informed.
